What's included in the Barcelona Essentials Pass

One booking covers Barcelona's two most-visited Gaudí sites, the full public transport network and a digital city guide. Every ticket is timed and digital, so you can plan your day in advance and skip the queues at the ticket office.

Sagrada Família basilica

Sagrada Família — or Casa Batlló

A timed-entry ticket for Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece, including the official audio guide on your phone. If Sagrada Família is sold out for your dates, the pass lets you swap in Casa Batlló instead — Gaudí's rippling apartment block on Passeig de Gràcia, also with audio guide.

Available options:

  • Sagrada Família entry ticket + audio guide
  • Sagrada Família + tower access
  • Sagrada Família + guided tour (English)
  • Casa Batlló — standard ticket (Blue)
Mosaic terrace at Park Güell with Barcelona skyline

Park Güell

Timed-entry ticket for the Monumental Zone — the part of the park that holds Gaudí's dragon staircase, the serpentine mosaic bench and the Hypostyle Hall. The free outer park is open without a ticket, but the iconic photos all happen inside the paid zone.

Available options:

  • Entry ticket + audio guide
  • Entry ticket + Gaudí House Museum
  • Entry ticket + guided tour (English)
Barcelona metro station

Hola Barcelona Travel Card

Unlimited rides on metro, bus, tram, urban railway (FGC), regional rail within Zone 1 and the Montjuïc funicular — including airport metro line L9 Sud in both directions. You choose 48, 72, 96 or 120 hours when you book. The card activates the first time you tap in.

Validity options:

  • 48 hours (2 days)
  • 72 hours (3 days)
  • 96 hours (4 days)
  • 120 hours (5 days)
Barcelona Audio Guide App

A self-guided audio guide for the wider city, with 100+ points of interest from La Rambla to Camp Nou. Offline maps and short audio commentaries from local experts — useful between Sagrada Família and your hotel, not a substitute for the official Sagrada Família audio guide (which is included separately).

10% discount voucher

A personal one-time code emailed after purchase. Valid for one month on any Barcelona booking on Tiqets — Casa Milà (La Pedrera), Hop-on Hop-off bus, Camp Nou tour, Moco Museum, Barcelona Aquarium and dozens of other attractions.

How the Essentials Pass compares

The Essentials Pass isn't the only way to see Gaudí's Barcelona. Here's an honest look at how it stacks up against booking separately or against the broader Barcelona Card.

Essentials Pass Booking separately Barcelona Card
Sagrada Família Included Bookable No
Park Güell Included Bookable No
Public transport 48–120h Bookable 48–120h
City audio guide Yes No No
10% discount on more tickets Yes No No
One booking, one email Yes No Yes
Cancellation Not cancellable Varies by ticket Yes

Pick the Essentials Pass if you want Sagrada Família + Park Güell + transport in one booking. Pick separate tickets if you only need one attraction. The Barcelona Card is the alternative when broader museum coverage matters more than seeing the two big Gaudí sites.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Essentials Pass and the Barcelona Card?
The Essentials Pass is a Tiqets product that bundles Sagrada Família (or Casa Batlló), Park Güell and a Hola Barcelona Travel Card. The official Barcelona Card from Turisme de Barcelona covers more museums (around 25) but uses a different transport entitlement and does not include Sagrada Família entry. They're aimed at different visitors — the Essentials Pass is built around the two Gaudí must-sees, the Barcelona Card around broader museum coverage.
Can I really choose between Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló?
Yes. When you book, the system shows availability for both. Sagrada Família timed-entry slots sell out faster, especially 4–6 weeks ahead in high season — if your dates are full, the same pass lets you swap in Casa Batlló without changing the price tier. Most travellers pick Sagrada Família when it's available.
How do I pick up the Hola Barcelona Travel Card?
You collect it from a TMB ticket machine in any metro station, including Aeroport T1 and T2 on metro line L9 Sud. Tap "Online collection" on the machine, scan the barcode from your email (or type the voucher number underneath), and the machine prints all the cards for your group at once. It's about 30 seconds per booking.
When does the transport card start counting?
On the first tap-in, not when you collect it. So if you arrive late at night and don't need transport until the next morning, collect the card at the airport but wait until the morning to use it — you'll get a full extra day of validity that way.
Does the transport card cover the airport?
Yes — both Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 are on metro line L9 Sud and fully included. A separate airport ticket costs around €5.70 each way, so the transport card pays for a big chunk of itself just on airport trips. The Aerobús (the express bus) is not covered.
Can I cancel or change the pass?
No. Because the booking reserves specific timed-entry slots for Sagrada Família and Park Güell, the pass is non-refundable and non-changeable once confirmed. If your plans are unsettled, it's better to book closer to your travel dates rather than several months ahead.
How long do I need between Sagrada Família and Park Güell?
Allow at least 3 hours between the two time slots if you want to do them on the same day. Sagrada Família alone takes 1–1.5 hours inside, plus transit time to Park Güell (around 25 minutes by metro). Most people prefer splitting them across two days — but the pass works either way.
Are the audio guides included?
Two audio guides are included — both on your phone:
• The official Sagrada Família audio guide, accessed through the basilica's ticket, narrates the building room by room.
• A separate city audio guide via the POPGuide app covers 100+ Barcelona landmarks in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish. Bring your own headphones — there's no rental kit.
Is there a tower-access option for Sagrada Família?
Yes, as an upgrade. When you customise the pass you can choose Sagrada Família entry + tower access instead of the standard entry — the Passion or Nativity tower lets you ride a lift up about 65 m and walk down through Gaudí's spires. It costs a little more and tower slots are limited, so book early if you want this.
Is the pass good value compared to buying tickets separately?
For most travellers, yes — but only modestly. The convenience of one booking, one email and one set of timed entries is the real value, not a deep discount. The 10% voucher for follow-on attractions usually closes most of the price gap. If you only want one of the two Gaudí sites and don't need a multi-day transport card, separate tickets will be cheaper.
What happens if Sagrada Família is sold out?
You'll see Casa Batlló offered as the alternative inclusion at the same price tier. In peak season the standard Sagrada Família entry is sometimes gone weeks ahead — the tower access tier often still has availability when the standard tier doesn't.
Where do I find my discount code?
In a separate email from Tiqets, sent shortly after your booking confirmation. It's a one-month, single-use code valid on any Barcelona attraction on tiqets.com — Casa Milà, Hop-on Hop-off, Camp Nou, Moco Museum, the Aquarium and so on. The discount is applied automatically at checkout when you enter it.

Tips for using your pass

Collect the transport card the night you arrive

Pick it up at the airport metro machine when you land, but don't tap in until you actually start using transport. The 48/72/96/120-hour clock only starts on first use, so collecting it late in the evening costs you nothing.

Book Sagrada Família in the morning

Morning light hits the east-facing Nativity stained glass and floods the nave with blues and greens — the photo everyone takes. The west-facing Passion side glows orange and red in the late afternoon. Both are worth seeing, but if you only pick one slot, morning wins.

Park Güell needs decent shoes

The Monumental Zone is built on a hillside with mosaic-paved ramps and stairs. Flat shoes with grip — even gentle hikers don't hurt. Bring water in summer; there's one small café and limited shade once you're on the upper terraces.

The 10% code works on the day

You don't need to plan it in advance. Once you're in Barcelona and decide you want to add Camp Nou, La Pedrera or the Hop-on Hop-off — the discount works on any Tiqets booking in the city for one month from purchase.

Don't buy the Aerobús ticket

It's the most common over-spend among first-time visitors. The express bus is not in the Hola Barcelona Travel Card — metro line L9 Sud from Aeroport T1/T2 is. The metro takes a few minutes longer than the Aerobús but it's already paid for, and it goes deeper into the city.
