What's the difference between the Essentials Pass and the Barcelona Card?
The Essentials Pass is a Tiqets product that bundles Sagrada Família (or Casa Batlló), Park Güell and a Hola Barcelona Travel Card. The official Barcelona Card from Turisme de Barcelona covers more museums (around 25) but uses a different transport entitlement and does not include Sagrada Família entry. They're aimed at different visitors — the Essentials Pass is built around the two Gaudí must-sees, the Barcelona Card around broader museum coverage.
Can I really choose between Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló?
Yes. When you book, the system shows availability for both. Sagrada Família timed-entry slots sell out faster, especially 4–6 weeks ahead in high season — if your dates are full, the same pass lets you swap in Casa Batlló without changing the price tier. Most travellers pick Sagrada Família when it's available.
How do I pick up the Hola Barcelona Travel Card?
You collect it from a TMB ticket machine in any metro station, including Aeroport T1 and T2 on metro line L9 Sud. Tap "Online collection" on the machine, scan the barcode from your email (or type the voucher number underneath), and the machine prints all the cards for your group at once. It's about 30 seconds per booking.
When does the transport card start counting?
On the first tap-in, not when you collect it. So if you arrive late at night and don't need transport until the next morning, collect the card at the airport but wait until the morning to use it — you'll get a full extra day of validity that way.
Does the transport card cover the airport?
Yes — both Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 are on metro line L9 Sud and fully included. A separate airport ticket costs around €5.70 each way, so the transport card pays for a big chunk of itself just on airport trips. The Aerobús (the express bus) is not covered.
Can I cancel or change the pass?
No. Because the booking reserves specific timed-entry slots for Sagrada Família and Park Güell, the pass is non-refundable and non-changeable once confirmed. If your plans are unsettled, it's better to book closer to your travel dates rather than several months ahead.
How long do I need between Sagrada Família and Park Güell?
Allow at least 3 hours between the two time slots if you want to do them on the same day. Sagrada Família alone takes 1–1.5 hours inside, plus transit time to Park Güell (around 25 minutes by metro). Most people prefer splitting them across two days — but the pass works either way.
Are the audio guides included?
Two audio guides are included — both on your phone:
• The official Sagrada Família audio guide, accessed through the basilica's ticket, narrates the building room by room.
• A separate city audio guide via the POPGuide app covers 100+ Barcelona landmarks in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish. Bring your own headphones — there's no rental kit.
Is there a tower-access option for Sagrada Família?
Yes, as an upgrade. When you customise the pass you can choose Sagrada Família entry + tower access instead of the standard entry — the Passion or Nativity tower lets you ride a lift up about 65 m and walk down through Gaudí's spires. It costs a little more and tower slots are limited, so book early if you want this.
Is the pass good value compared to buying tickets separately?
For most travellers, yes — but only modestly. The convenience of one booking, one email and one set of timed entries is the real value, not a deep discount. The 10% voucher for follow-on attractions usually closes most of the price gap. If you only want one of the two Gaudí sites and don't need a multi-day transport card, separate tickets will be cheaper.
What happens if Sagrada Família is sold out?
You'll see Casa Batlló offered as the alternative inclusion at the same price tier. In peak season the standard Sagrada Família entry is sometimes gone weeks ahead — the tower access tier often still has availability when the standard tier doesn't.
Where do I find my discount code?
In a separate email from Tiqets, sent shortly after your booking confirmation. It's a one-month, single-use code valid on any Barcelona attraction on tiqets.com — Casa Milà, Hop-on Hop-off, Camp Nou, Moco Museum, the Aquarium and so on. The discount is applied automatically at checkout when you enter it.
